Tops picks of things to do this weekend July 12-13

Summer is in full swing. There are so many festivals happening that one couldn’t possibly go to all of them. Here’s a sampling of what’s happening this weekend and early next week.

Taste of Buffalo. Delaware Avenue and Niagara Square, July 12 11am-9pm, July 13 11am-7pm. Free Admission. Food tickets .50
It is the second largest food fest in the U.S. and one of the biggest festivals of the summer in Buffalo; over 450,000 people are expected to converge on downtown Buffalo for the two-day event. It is celebrating its 25th year in 2008. Over sixty restaurants and several local wineries will be participating. For more information, visit www.tasteofbuffalo.com

Canal Fest of the Tonawandas, along the Erie Canal in Tonawanda and North Tonawanda. July 13-20. Free Admission
Enjoy eight days of rides, live entertainment, food and more. A giant parade is held on Tuesday evening. There will be a car show, craft show and many more events. See www.canalfest.org for complete schedule.

Don Davis Car Show at the Amherst Museum, 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst July 12, 12-5pm. Free admission.
Pre-1980 cars of all makes and models will be on display on the grounds of the museum. www.amherstmuseum.org

Olde Sanborn Days Arts & Crafts Show July 12 10:00am-5pm and July 13 11am-4pm. Free to the public at the Sanborn Fire Hall grounds on Rt. 429 near the intersection of Rt. 31.
A family oriented event that will feature X-TREME Art sculptor, Jerry Schieffer.
Schieffer is a "Master of the Chainsaw" and is considered one of the best carvers in the world. He has won critical acclaim for his beautiful carving style in numerous competitions.

2008 Geneseo Airshow “The Greatest Show on Turf” Geneseo Airport, Geneseo. July 12-13. $15 adults, $5 children 6-12, 5 and under free.
An airshow featuring historic aircraft presented by the 1941 Historical Aircraft Group.
